One-thousand turkeys rolled into the Capital Area Food Bank Tuesday by way of an 18-wheeler.
Every year, Randall's Food Market donates the turkeys so that less fortunate Central Texans can have a Happy Thanksgiving.
The turkeys are unloaded and then distributed to needy families. The food bank's president said while he's thankful for the donation, help from the public is still needed.
"Hunger really is unacceptable, its unacceptable for children and seniors so I would hope they would embrace that belief and act on it with a donation of food, a donation of funds, lend their voice to let our policy makers know that this is a great challenge in our community," David Davenport with the Capital Area Food Bank said.
The Capital Area Food Bank has been operating for 28 years.
The bank provides food and grocery products to hundreds of partner agencies and nearly two dozen Central Texas counties.
