A pink fire truck was just one of the many attractions at the Austin Fire Department's Pink Heals Tour Tuesday.
The tour is party of nationwide outreach campaign for breast cancer survivors and their families.
Firefighters passionate about finding a cure traveled across the country to attend the event.
"I just go to cities and let them know I'm coming, and I want them to prove to their own women, if I'm willing to drive 2,000 miles to come to Austin to honor their women, your leaders are only a couple of blocks away; they should come over here and honor this truck. Because if you stare at this truck for 10 minutes and you don't shed a tear, understand how bad this disease is, you got problems and you need to move on and let someone else lead," Pink Heals Tour firefighter Dave Graybill said.
The fire trucks are not only pink for breast cancer awareness, but were signed by breast cancer survivors.
"Many of the firefighters are doing this on their own time on their vacation time; each one of them has been touched by breast cancer in some way or another, or ovarian cancer any other cancer that women suffer from, so we're truly grateful to them for everything that they're doing," Barbara Formichelli, with the Breast Cancer Resource Center, said.
Any profits made on the tour go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
