The Austin Police Department has suspended an officer for nine days for insubordination and failure to obey a lawful order.

According to a memo, Officer Lando Hall had been ordered to take training classes in connection with complaints about how he interacted with the public during calls.

Hall, however, canceled his registration without first notifying his supervisor.

Hall's suspension will begin May 1.

He will also be placed on a performance improvement plan.
