The Bagel Fest 5K kicked things off early Sunday, then everyone hung around to eat bagels and have some fun.
More than 1,000 people came out to run, which helped raise thousands of dollars. The goal was to raise $40,000, but the rewards were instant.
"Yes! You did the run, and now you get the bagels, so you get bagels, bananas and it's as tradition as Purim," volunteer coordinator Kathy Katz said. "And as a tradition we have little cookies called Hamentaschen."
Proceeds from Bagel Fest go to the Austin Jewish Academy's scholarship fund.
