Paying for your children’s college education is hard enough for most parents, but for immigrants, that goal often seems out of reach.
That's why the Austin Independent School District held a Spanish-language financial aid night at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Thursday.
The district wants parents to know that aid is available, even if the parents or student are immigrants.
One college student said there are opportunities for immigrant families.
“I struggled with applications,” University of Texas freshman Adly Tristan said. “I'm from Mexico, and I thought I wasn't going to get any help. I thought it was impossible to go to college, but there is always a way, there is help, there is always an opportunity for people like me.”
If you missed Thursday event, you can still get information from your child's college advisor. Every AISD high school has one.
