Two agencies are partnering up to help keep central Texas area green.
Goodwill Industries and Dell Computers are offering free computer recycling to help eliminate electronic waste, also known as e-waste.
State legislators said Texas leads the nation in e-waste.
"We produce massive amounts of it every year, and its enough that it threatens to ultimately overwhelm our landfills," Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Texas, said. "These products, these electronic products, contain toxic materials like lead and mercury and they have potential to poison our land, our water and soil."
All Goodwill locations will accept and sort dropped off computer equipment.
Dell will pick up and recycle the materials.
People are cautioned to make sure to remove data from hard drives and other storage media before donating.
