The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Gustav is expected to be a catastrophic storm as it comes ashore. But, FEMA said there is enough food, water, ice and other supplies stockpiled for 1 million victims for the next three days.
An estimated 2 million people fled Louisiana. As many as 10,000 remain in the New Orleans area.
FEMA set up a locator system to help people displaced by Hurricane Gustav get in touch with their family members.
All you have to do is sign up with the National Emergency Family Registry Locator.
It lets up to seven people access your information, including ways to contact you.
There's a special section for missing children.
The system was created in response to the estimated 18,000 people that were reported lost after Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma in 2005.
To sign up, go to the FEMA Web site, or call (800) 588-9822.
