Joe James Sawyer filed a motion Tuesday to withdraw himself as Laura Hall's attorney and for a replacement to be appointed.
The reason for the withdrawal: the potential for the Defense Attorney to become a witness for the defense. Sawyer believes that he will have to testify during the appeals process for another trial for Hall.
Hall was recently sentenced to five years in prison for helping convicted murderer Colton Pitonyak dismember Jennifer Cave's body and then flee to Mexico.
Sawyer was in San Antonio Wednesday and could not be reached for comment. Judge Wilford Flowers has yet to rule on Sawyer's motion.
