The animal rescue group PAWS of Austin is working on a new program called Pets Across USA.
Unlike other rescue groups, PAWS takes its pups across America to find the right home.
The organization partners with other shelters across the country to rescue dogs from kill shelters and take them to no-kill rescue organizations on the West Coast.

"We would like to reduce the euthanasia rate. We're not looking at solving the whole problem, but we're going to do our share to save as many animals as we can so less animals will be killed simply because there's too many in the shelters," Prima Mosi of PAWS said.
The Town Lake Animal Center euthanizes more than 12,000 animals every year because it's an urban shelter trying to meet a very large need.
