WASHINGTON -- A Texas soldier has died in Iraq after an improvised explosive device detonated near her Humvee.
Second Lt. Emily J.T. Perez died Tuesday from injuries sustained in Al Kilf, Iraq. The 23-year-old joined the military in May 2005 as a Medical Service Corps Officer and was assigned to the 204th Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division since October 2005.
She deployed to Iraq in December 2005. The Pentagon didn't list Perez’s hometown.
