BAGHDAD, Iraq -- The number of dead in a car bomb attack in Iraq continues to climb.
Authorities now say 66 people are dead and 87 more are hurt. A bomb exploded in a car parked near a popular market in the Shiite slum of Sadr City on Saturday morning. The explosion also devastated several shops in the sprawling district in eastern Baghdad.
AP Television News footage shows a huge plume of gray smoke rising from the scene and flames shooting through the windows of several scorched cars.
Meanwhile, an investigation in under way into who kidnapped a Sunni female member of parliament. She was taken in Baghdad today along with her guards as their convoy was stopped by heavily-armed gunmen.
