A math teacher at Crockett High School in South Austin has been indicted for an improper relationship between a teacher and student.
Joaquin Salazar, 29, was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday.
AISD officers began investigating a complaint against Salazar last December after a student accused him of touching her breast.
Officers say the two were on school grounds when the incident reportedly happened. They say the incident is limited to only one student and one teacher.
A letter was sent home with Crockett High School students regarding the incident. It explains that Salazar has been on administrative leave since December.
The charge is a second-degree felony. Salazar could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
Salazar has been with Crockett High School since January 2000.
