A local nonprofit, only five years old, puts writers in schools in five Austin-area school districts to help teach students how to develop their writing skills.
Badgerdog Literary Publishing holds creative writing workshops at Central Texas schools for young writers and even publishes students' works.
"We put writers into the school, grades three through 12, to lead workshops with the goal of publication," Badgerdog President Melanie Moore said. "We also have a summer camp and Saturday workshops that publish in the same anthologies."
The anthology "Youth Voices In Ink" is on sale at Bookpeople and available on area library shelves.

"Each student has a chance to read their work aloud at a site reading at their school and a community-wide reading," Moore said.
Badgerdog students will be reading their work at the Texas Book Festival Saturday at 10 a.m. in the State Capitol Extension, room E 1.012. The Badgerdog booth will be located on the west side of the Capitol grounds along Colorado Street.
Texas author René Saldaña, Jr. will be there to introduce the young writers.
