Austin police issue 'No Refusal' for July 4th
Updated: 7/1/2009 3:00 PM
By: News 8 Austin Staff

Austin police announced another "No Refusal" weekend for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

The Austin Police Department said the goal is to get through the holiday without any fatalities.

During No Refusal weekends, if suspected drunk drivers refuse a breathalyzer test, officers can issue a search warrant for blood tests.

Police also will be enacting the TACT program, which stands for “Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks.”

TACT and No Refusal will be put into effect at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 4, until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 5.

The program began last Halloween.
