It's not farfetched to say the look and design of a hotel in the near future will be eerily similar to a room featured in the Jetsons.
That's because there's a conference in Austin showing what the hotel of the year 2010 just might look like. The Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals 2008 HITEC convention is taking place all week at the Austin Convention Center.
Think robotics, customized rooms and downloadable amenities, but with energy efficiency in mind. A remote control will control everything in the room, from adjusting the lighting to summoning room service.
Technology meets comfort too. The 21st century bed actually doesn't have a mattress. It's made of about 10,000 moving parts and as the guest lay on the bed, it conforms to their body.
"It's very nice and it's also Internet enabled and the headboard can simulate sunrise and the sunset," Frank Wolfe with HFTP said.
And being lazy just became that much cooler. The blue tooth enabled pillow can be synced with your cell phone.
"Put your cell phone away and lay on your pillow and talk to your significant other all night," he said.
Being green is a concept behind all the amenities.

"We're very conscious about being green and it shows," he said.
The convention lasts through Thursday.
Some of the topics include the use of technology, and the future of online services for hotel customers.
