The city of Austin's new twice-a-week watering schedule went into effect on Oct. 1.
It's based on the type of customer and, for residential users, the last digit of street addresses. Single family homes include duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes. Multi-family customers include common areas of codominiums or homeowners' associations.
Monday: No watering
Tuesday: Commercial and multifamily customers
Wednesday: Residential ending in odd street addresses
Thursday: Residential ending in even street addresses
Friday: Commercial and multifamily customers
Saturday: Residential ending in odd street addresses
Sunday: Residential ending in even street addresses
The new schedule is mandatory for all commercial and multi-family users.
For residential users, watering days are only mandatory from May 1 - Sept. 30.
Customers with automatic irrigation (or sprinkler) systems may water year round before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
There are no time restrictions for hose-end sprinklers outside of May 1 - Sept. 30, at which time users may water before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. on the designated watering day.
Watering by hand-held hose or bucket is allowed any time of the day, any day of the week.
