Stage 2 Watering Restrictions for the City of Austin

As of Aug. 24, the City of Austin implemented a new once-a-week watering schedule based on the type of customer and, for residential users, the last digit of street addresses. Single family homes include duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes. Multi-family customers include common areas of codominiums or homeowners' associations.

Monday: No watering
Tuesday: Commercial and multifamily customers ending in odd numbers
Wednesday: No watering
Thursday: No watering
Friday: Commercial and multifamily customers ending in even numbers
Saturday: Residential ending in odd street addresses
Sunday: Residential ending in even street addresses

The schedule is mandatory for all commercial and multi-family users.

Outdoor watering times are as follows:
• Automatic systems -- before 10 a.m.
• Hose-end sprinklers and soaker hoses -- before 10 a.m., and/or after 7 p.m.
• By hand -- any time on any day.

Restrictions are in effect until further notice.

More Information

In Stage 2, the following additional restrictions apply to the use of potable water:

• Outdoor irrigation is prohibited except on assigned days at designated times
• Golf fairway irrigation is limited to assigned days before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
• Golf tee and green irrigation is limited to every other day
• Vehicle washing is limited to designated days and times, with a hand-held bucket or a positive shut-off nozzle on a hose*
• A person may not conduct or participate in a charity car wash
The use of outdoor ornamental fountains is prohibited except to provide aeration for aquatic life
• A person may not fill, refill, or add water to an indoor fountain
• No automatic fill valves are allowed for pools or ponds
• Washing of sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, patios or other paved surfaces is prohibited*
• A restaurant may not serve water to a customer unless requested by the customer

*Exceptions are made for washing necessary to protect public health, safety or welfare

Watering Restrictions Lifted for the City of San Marcos

• Waste of water is prohibited at all times.

• Irrigation with sprinklers is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

• Irrigation with hand-held bucket, hand-held hose,soaker hose and drip irrigation systems is allowed on any day and at any time.

• Charity car washes are prohibited unless held at a certified commercial car wash.

• Non-commercial vehicle washing is allowed on any day and at any time but must be done using a handheld bucket or handheld hose equipped with a positive shutoff device.

• Swimming pools are allowed to operate and be filled as normal. It is recommended that pools be covered while not in use to minimize evaporative losses.

• Operation of non-recirculating aesthetic water features is prohibited at all times.

• Washing of impervious surfaces is allowed but should be limited unless required for health and safety.

Stage 2 Watering Restrictions for the City of Kyle

• Waste of water is prohibited.
• Watering is permitted on your designated day only during the hours before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
• Automatic irrigation systems may only operated between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m.
• Designated week days are determined by street number as follows:

Addresses ending in # and designated day:
1 or 2 Monday
3 or 4 Tuesday
5 or 6 Wednesday
7 or 8 Thursday
9 or 0 Friday

• Non-commercial (at-home) car washing is allowed only on the designated week day from midnight to 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to midnight.
• Washing must be done wit h a hand­held bucket or a hand­held hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle.
• Charity carwashes are prohibited.

• Using an automatic fill valve to add water to an outdoor swimming or wading pool or to a pond is prohibited.
• Washing a sidewalk, driveway, parking area, street, tennis court, patio, or other paved area, is
prohibited except to alleviate an immediate health or safety hazard.
• Athletic fields for organized sports such as football, softball, baseball, or soccer must comply with Stage 2 restrictions.

Irrigation with hand-held bucket, hand-held hose, soaker hose or drip irrigation is allowed on any day and at any time. Customers are encouraged to reduce all other non-essential water uses.
