The University of Texas has a beef with a North Austin restaurant's name.
UT filed suit against Bevo's Grille. The school claims Bevo's owners infringed on their trademark by naming their restaurant after the school's mascot and using its Longhorn logo on the sign.
"My idealistic hope was that the University would say, you know, 'they're a family owned restaurant, they're not hurting the name, they're not saying they're a part of UT, they're not using it for themselves as part of the University,' So, my idealistic hope was for them to leave us alone," owner Debbie Mansoor said.
But UT says the restaurant's storefront sign and name will lead customers to think the restaurant is affiliated with the University.
Bevo's owners said they can't afford to fight UT and despite the lawsuit, the $20,000 sign in front of their restaurant still stands.
