Shopping and eating at locally owned businesses is easier than ever with the help of many local business alliances.
"Go Local" Austin is a for-profit alliance offering cards with discount incentives for participating local vendors.
This weekend "Austin Unchanged," sponsored by the Austin Independent Business Alliance, will be spearhead savings and specials at stores all over town.

AIBA Founder Steve Bercu said economic studies have shown that buying local pays.
"Three-point-five times as much money stays in the community if you shop at locally owned business, as if you shop at chain store," Bercu said.
