A group of military spouses called the "Care Team" is preparing and donating food and cards for the families of soldiers wounded or killed in Thursday’s shooting at Fort Hood.
"There’s just so much stuff that we’ve got here and so much more stuff that’s coming in," volunteer Amanda Gault said. "Just this little bit that I can help do for them and their families means everything to me. I would not rather be anywhere else than right here."
Many care packages are headed to families of the 20th Engineer Battalion of the 36th Engineer Brigade.
Lt. Col. Pete Andryziak is the commander of the 20th Engineer Battalion. Many of the soldiers injured or killed by suspected shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan were from his group.
"We had 15 people involved," Andryziak said. "Four soldiers died, I had 11 initially in the hospital. Six of those have since come back."

The 20th Engineer Battalion was at the Soldier Readiness Center to get ready for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
"It’s very surreal to not hear about something that has happened in Iraq or Afghanistan, something that has happened on the home front," Andryziak said. "I think, if anything, this has focused my soldiers more than anything else in terms of the preparation about what can potentially happen on any bad day down range."
Now their mission must go on without some of their fellow soldiers.
"Come Monday we are getting back to business. The best thing we can do at this point in time is to continue to focus," Andryziak said. "The timeline is not going to change, we’re still going to go."
He hopes the show of support from the Care Team will make it easier for his soldiers to leave in January.
"They know that if something happens to them in Afghanistan, that this is going to happen right here," Andryziak said. "It’s going to take care of their family."
