Election Day held the fate of six candidates and only two city council seats in San Marcos Tuesday.
It was a slow and low voter turnout.
Just over seven percent of voters showed up to the polls, but that was enough to re-elect John Thomaides. He received 62 percent of the vote.
"It shows that the citizens agreed with the vision and the ideas that I put forth in the campaign," Thomaides said. "When we talk about jobs that they're good paying jobs and making sure we're a watchdog on wasteful government spending."
He was a two-time Place Six incumbent, up against business owner Monica Garcia and retired civil servant Anita Fuller.

San Marcos City Council voters renewed a relationship with one City Council members, but weren't quite ready to decide on another.

The race for Place Five was much closer.
Only 44 votes separated Shaune Maycock and a Lisa Marie Coppoletta.
"I'm very proud and very honored to have been a part of the process. I enjoyed it, met a lot more people in San Marcos," Maycock said.
Coppoletta received 26 percent of the vote which was just enough to force a run-off with Ryan Thomason.
Thomason received 49.9 percent of the vote, just short of clinching the race.
"I think, in my case, it's about spending your whole life in town and knowing so many people," Thomason said. "You continue campaigning and figure out your strategy based on who you know you're running against."
Both Coppoletta and Thomason are back on their campaign trail.
Election results will be canvassed on Nov. 14 by the San Marcos City Council.
