President Lyndon Baines Johnson would have turned 101 Thursday, and the LBJ Library and Museum celebrated with its yearly tradition.
Free refreshments and a special birthday cake honored the late president from Texas.
The library is opening a new exhibit in October and organizers say they hope everyone has a chance to stop in for a visit.
"We are the only presidential library that has free admission, and that was LBJ's wish," Anne Wheeler, of the LBJ Library and Museum, said. "He wanted anyone to be able to come here regardless of their ability to pay – everyone to feel welcome. We also have free parking. It's pretty important in Austin."
Refreshments and cake were also offered on the University of Texas campus in the mall area as part of the celebration.
Johnson's wife, Lady Bird Johnson, held two degrees from the University of Texas.
The LBJ Library and Museum is located at 2313 Red River St.
