The five year wait is over for Charlie Robison's new record – "Beautiful Day."
The record is a culmination of Robison's tumultuous past five years, in which he had three children with Dixie Chicks' Emily Robison but ultimately ended in divorce.
"It's kind of hard to get all that stuff together, you know, making a record, and touring and stuff while you're going through all that kind of stuff," Robison said.
Robison used Tom Waits – an American singer-songwriter, composer and actor – as fodder for his new album.

"I always used to say when I listened to a Tom Waits' record, even if I was in a good relationship, it made you want to have a broken heart and just want to be in a bar," he said.
Robison said that this album represents his best work to date.
"You know, too bad you have to go through something like that, but, you know, everyone comes out on the other side good," he said. "I mean, I have great friends, and the kids are great, so everything's cool."
Aside from being a creative outlet for Robison to express his feelings about his divorce, this record represents a new beginning for the aging musician.
"I'm just looking forward to making a new record, because I kind of learned so much of doing this one, that I can't wait to expand on the ideas that I did with this one here," he said.
Robison will use "Beautiful Day" -- out in stores nationwide -- as a jumping off point for future projects.
"Hopefully it won't take another divorce to do it," he said about his next album.
