Austin police Tuesday arrested a man accused of stealing more than $60,000 worth of bikes.
Police said 41-year-old James Clayton was well-known among the Austin biking community.
They said he would befriend people by riding with them, then steal their bikes from their homes.
Police say Clayton would target more expensive bikes, including those worth more than $2,000 each.
Officers recovered about 20 stolen bikes from Clayton's home and storage unit.
So far police have located only one victim.
"Unfortunately, a lot of these folks didn't even file a report with the police department," APD Detective Sheldon Askew said. "Therefore, it's very difficult to locate a victim in that sense and also very hard because folks didn't record serial numbers."
Clayton faces felony theft charges in Travis County.
He also faces three grand larceny charges in Arizona.
If you know Clayton or have had a bicycle stolen, you're urged to call Austin police at (512) 974-5978.
