WASHINGTON — Just days after President Barack Obama took office, there was another round of missile strikes in Pakistan similar to the ones that took place under George W. Bush.
Pakistani leaders have been urging Mr Obama to end the attacks, saying they're killing civilians, not just terror suspects. Pakistani security officials said Friday's twin strikes killed 22 people, among them eight suspected foreign militants, including an Egyptian Al-Qaida operative.
The White House won't comment on the attacks. President Obama has told U.S. diplomats that victory in Afghanistan depends on shutting down terrorist camps in Pakistan.
Since last August, there've been more than 30 such strikes by Predator drones flying from neighboring Afghanistan.
