Prosecutors have 72 hours to hand over new test results from DNA evidence in one of Austin's most infamous murder cases.
That evidence, attorneys said, will exonerate Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott of involvement in the 1991 Yogurt Shop murders.
A district judge ruled Tuesday that recent testing results must be handed over to defense attorneys by Friday afternoon.
DNA found on two swabs taken from 13-year-old Amy Ayers, one of the victims, does not match DNA taken from Springsteen, Scott, nor the two other defendants previously charged with the crime.
After months of waiting, the defense has yet to see the new evidence.
"It seems to me they made a contract with the public that they were going to come forward, and tell us speedily who it was, but the silence is deafening," Springsteen's attorney Jim Sawyer said.
Judge Mike Lynch ordered the release of evidence, after defense attorneys were denied a request for a hearing to show that the district attorney's office was in contempt of court for failing to maintain the integrity of scientific evidence in the case.
