For $25 you can provide 125 meals that the Capital
Area Food Bank will distribute to hungry people in Austin.
The organization said the event is coming at just the right time.
"About 1.3 million pounds of food equates to about 1.1 million meals. We distribute that out across 21 counties, from San Marcos to North of Waco," David Davenport with the Capital Area Food Bank said.
"We're challenged this summer with high food prices and gasoline prices and families being challenged," he said.
The 5th annual Rock N' Restock benefit concert, featuring Bob Schneider at Stubb’s Barbeque is certain to offer good music for a good cause.
It is being presented by Goldwasser International, a real-estate company. Initially a client appreciation party, the event is now open to the public and fulfills a central mission by the organizations involved to give back to the community.
Event founder Chad Goldwasser said this year's event will attract over 1,000 people at Stubbs.
"This year, with the help of Austin, we're going to raise over $30,000 for the Capital Area Food Bank and Right Course," he said.
Since its inception, proceeds from Rock N' Restock have been donated to the Capital Area Food Bank. Beginning in 2008, the event will also benefit Right Course, a new non-profit organization aimed at providing children, who can not afford the opportunity to participate in organized sports.
