Former UT football player, now running back for the Chicago Bears, Cedric Benson was arrested on Lake Travis last night.
He and several friends were on his boat when officers with the Lower Colorado River Authority randomly stopped him for a safety inspection.
They gave Benson a sobriety float test, which he failed.
According to the LCRA, that's when Benson became upset and started threatening the officer. The officer then pepper-sprayed him.
Officers said they had to physically move Benson from the boat and into the police car because he refused to go. He also refused a breath test.
He's been charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
Benson was drafted fourth overall in the NFL draft by the Chicago Bears three years ago. He started all four years at UT, where he received the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back in 2004.
