Reacting to the lack of media geared towards Latina girls in the United States, Latinitas was launched. It's a program that empowers young Latinas to find their voice in media.
Latinitas is a non-profit organization focused on informing and inspiring young Latin women to grow into successful adults.
They are the first digital magazine for young Latinas.
"There's a low representation of Latinas in media in the decision making positions," Laura Donnelly of Latinitas said.
She said there are two components to the organization.
"We want to get more Latina voices in the media, but we also want to give them the technology to be able to self publish. A lot of the girls we work with do not have a computer at home," she said.

The digital magazine gets about 30,000 hits online per month and Latinitas is developing their first print issues by the end of the year too.
Latinitas will be holding a fundraiser at the end of April where they will be auctioning off photographs, so now they are collecting professional photos to auction off to benefit the non-profit organization.
The auctino will be held April 23rd at the Copa Bar and
Restaurant on Congress Avenue.
