Luke Robinson and his two Great Pyrenees, Murphy and Hudson, are getting ready for the hike of their lives.
The trio is training to walk to from Austin to Boston in February.
The 2,000 mile trek is designed to raise money and awareness to help in the fight against cancer The idea for the walk grew out of a promise Robinson made to his first Great Pyrenees, Malcolm, shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer.
"Though Malcolm wasn't my blood he was my boy in every respect," Robinson said.
Malcolm went through chemotherapy and had a leg amputated, but the bone cancer moved into his lungs.
"I'd never really lost anything in my life so it hit me pretty hard. The vast majority of cancers that are found in cats and dogs are the same types of cancers that are found in humans," Robinson said.
So Robinson, Murphy, and Hudson will walk 2,000 miles, stopping as they go to share Malcolm's story and raise money for cancer research.

"We're going to have podcasts and video feeds all throughout the process so everyone that wants to participate and be a part of the hike can track our progress," Robinson said.
Hudson, Murphy, and Robinson have been training for the last four months. Robinson says he's even been sleeping on the floor to get ready. They plan to leave Austin some time in February.
They'll walk about 10 miles day.
Robinson said the hike will take six to eight months and all the money raised will be used to fight cancer, so others won't have to say goodbye to their best friends.
"I've had pets and animals all my life, and loved them, profound respect for them, but I've never had Malcolm in my life, and he changed me," he said.
