An apparent standoff at gun shop in Central Austin ended Tuesday afternoon with nobody found inside.
Police had been in position outside McBride's Guns at 2915 San Gabriel since the security alarm went off at 4:36 a.m.
Officers responded and found the front door open and guns and ammunition strewn everywhere.
Police backed off after a motion detector in the building
indicated movement. Then the SWAT team was called in to search the building and the area.
Police did have not had a sign that anyone was inside the building since the alarm was tripped before dawn. By 2 p.m. they determined no one was in the building.

Nobody was hurt.
Police are now going through the inventory at McBride's to see if anything was stolen. They'll check any missing weapons against national databases to see if the guns were stolen to sell on the black market.
Lamar Boulevard between 29th and 32nd Streets was shut down for nine hours during the SWAT situation. Two nearby schools were on lockdown and surrounding businesses were not been able to open until late afternoon.
Losing a half day's work was frustrating for many businesses, but owners said everyone's safety was more important.
The city said more than 30,000 cars drive down Lamar on any given day.
