A local documentary maker is living among Austin's homeless in order to understand what their lives are like day in and day out.
Under the Bridge will feature Scott Rudolf. He's been living on the streets for two weeks now.
Rudolf carries a small camera to record events on the streets, but he has to be careful to not blow his cover. He also meets up with his film crew several times a day.
They always interview other homeless people too, so not to arouse any suspicion.
Rudolf says there's a lot about the homeless that people just don't realize.
"Some of them can't pull their own weight. It has been self-inflicted and it's sad but these are the same people who probably deserve a second or third chance. Whatever help you've been given by a family member or friend, these same people probably missed out on that. Maybe they need help from a stranger," he said.
Some of the other things Rudolf said he has learned is the ease of getting food in Austin, but the difficulty in finding a safe place to sleep at night.
He said he hopes people come away from the film with a message.

"I hope they gain awareness through all this, and I hope this helps nip the problem in the bud before it becomes a major issue," he said.
The filmmakers plan to finish shooting by the end of this month, and, after that, they're planning to submit their film to some film festivals.
Rudolf and crew also keep a daily blog on their Myspace web page.
