A 48-year-old woman is dead following a house fire late Monday night in the 1400 block of Byers Lane in North Austin.

A pet Dalmatian also died in the fire.

Investigators know the fire started in the living room, but still don't know what caused it. Flames spread quickly through the house, and firefighters arrived within five minutes to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Investigators won't be able to determine the cause of the fire until they get the results of the autopsy.

Damages were estimated at $200,000.
