Starting Monday, Austin's Town Lake will officially be known as Lady Bird Lake, in honor of late first lady Lady Bird Johnson.
Austin City Council members approved the name change at the last council meeting.
Many people who frequent the lake expressed mixed feelings about the name change.
"I really like the name Town Lake and have always known Town Lake to be called Town Lake, so I really would not like to see it change. But I have high respect for her and everything, but I think everyone knows it as Town Lake," runner Dee Giles said.
"I think that is very relevant name as opposed to Town Lake. You know with all the nature and beauty that's what one stood for, one of the many things, I'm glad its happening," runner Jared Aleshirie said.

The change doesn't only affect people using the lake, it also affects area businesses that use Town Lake in their name.
No word if any those businesses will change their name.
Johnson is credited with turning Town Lake into what it is today, after spearheading the Town Lake Beautification Project in 1971.
