TYLER -- The police chief of the small East Texas town of Troup was arrested and charged with fabricating and tampering with evidence.
Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith says Troup Police Chief Chester
Kennedy was arrested early Friday morning. His bail was set at $400,000.
Hours earlier, Troup Police Officer Mark Turner was arrested and charged with trafficking and evidence tampering.
Federal agents and sheriff's deputies are investigating. No other information is available.
Troup is a town of about 2,000 residents about 15 miles southeast of Tyler.
