The Seaholm Redevelopment Project in Downtown Austin is getting bigger.
Some additions the city has been considering are now officially part of the project.
City leaders want to relocate an Energy Control Center that's next to the plant owned by Austin Energy. Then the city will sell the land to developers.
The plan also includes extensions of West Street and Second Street to make getting around downtown easier.
Developers say they're excited about the changes in store for the area.
"Retail, restaurants, hopefully something like Austin City Limits one of the cultural entities. You're going to have a 60,000-square foot office building and a 15-story residential tower, and in between will be a public plaza," John Rosato of Southwest Strategies Group said.
In all, the project will now cover 200,000-square feet.
City leaders expect profits from the sale of land the Energy Control Station sits on will help cover the cost of relocating that station.
