Air Force One touched down at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Saturday at 2 p.m.
President Bush arrived in Texas to huddle with state officials on the damage Hurricane Rita left behind.
The president flew in to Austin from Colorado Springs, where he'd been briefed on the storm at the headquarters of the U.S. Northern Command.
Speaking to reporters there, Bush warned residents along the Texas-Louisiana border shouldn't be in any hurry to return to their homes, because Rita is still dangerous.
However, by the time Bush arrived in the Texas capital, Rita had been downgraded to a tropical storm.
His schedule in Texas also includes an overnight stay in San Antonio, a staging area for the hurricane response.
