Federal and local agents arrested 31 people Wednesday morning in an effort to remove felons living in assisted housing.
Investigators say some suspects got access to public housing illegally by not reporting income or having outstanding warrants for violent crimes.
All the arrests happened in the Austin area.
Authorities say the bust is part of an ongoing effort to combat fraud and get people into public housing who deserve it.
The Housing Authority of the city of Austin has about 1,400 families on the Housing Choice Voucher waiting list and about 4,100 families on the Public Housing waiting list.
