The city of Austin released a final report into the drunken driving motorcycle accident that killed APD Commander Shauna Jacobson and her husband, Kurt Jacobson.
The report by an independent investigator concludes that "it was not readily apparent to any APD employees the Jacobsons' were too intoxicated to drive."
One of the focuses of the independent investigation was to find out if other police officers present knew that Kurt Jacobson was too drunk to drive.
The report concludes they did not, and that the Jacobson's deaths resulted from their own mistakes in judgment.
Also, that all other officers present conducted themselves with appropriate decorum and acted in an appropriate manner.
The couple died Dec. 11 when the motorcycle Kurt Jacobson was driving ran off the road leaving a police-sponsored event at Cedar's Bar and Grill in western Travis County.

Austin Police Chief Stan Knee said he had no doubt about the results of the investigation, and said the tragedy spurred the department to begin alcohol awareness training.
"We thought it was important that the new officers understand this tragedy and that the new officers understand that you're your brothers’ keeper, on- and off-duty. So we have done some very, very pointed training in the cadet class," Knee said.
Training will also be provided to other civil and non-civil employees of the department.
In addition, both the APD and its police officers union have agreed to not promote functions that center around alcohol.
