Getting on to the World Wide Web will now be "a walk in the park."
On Tuesday, the city of Austin teamed up with the Downtown Austin Alliance and several other groups to bring wireless Internet service to Republic Square – the first of four parks to get wireless service.

"We think we'll see more utilization of our park system … With the revitalization downtown there's more folks living downtown. This gives a new place for folks to come at lunchtime, bring their lunch, bring their little PDAs, their Pocket PCs or their laptops and come out and do some work or whatever they do, but they can enjoy the park setting," Jay Stone, of Austin Parks and Recreation, said.
Auditorium shores will be the next park to go wireless sometime in June.
