After weeks of setting the stage for the first-ever Austin City Limits Music Festival, the gates opened Saturday morning.
The weekend event includes a long list of performers and an even longer list of rules -- and your music festival ticket alone may not get you in.
Music fans have waited a long time for this festival, and Saturday morning they had to wait a little longer to get their bags checked.
Music lover Heidi Gudelman was among the first in line. She and about a dozen others arrived hours early for the music festival, and when it came time to crossing the checkpoint, she passed with flying colors.
"I read what we were supposed to bring. And I've got an umbrella that's not taller than 6 feet, I've got a blanket and a collapsible chair and got my sunscreen and my water bottles and, oh yeah, I'm all set," Gudelman said.
Most others got by OK, but for some it was a struggle. Be it bikes or wagons, a few hit a speed bump when rolling through the security booth.
"They told us it was on the list and it's a cart, but we consider it more like a stroller for a 2-year-old," said festival goer Heather Wartenburg
People should expect much of the same on Sunday.
"We'll be conducting searches at the front gate as to what people can bring in the park and what they're not allowed to bring in the park," said event organizer Rick Roach.
Items that can be brought are:

 | | A blanket |
 | | Small umbrellas |
 | | Soft-sided coolers |
 | | A portable, collapsible chair |
 | | No more than two factory-sealed water bottles per person |
 | | Binoculars and cameras |
Items not allowed are:

 | | Recording equipment |
 | | Weapons of any kind |
 | | Illegal substances |
 | | Pets |
 | | Glass containers |
 | | Alcohol, food, or beverages |
If the banned items are found, security will throw it away or have the owner take the item back to their vehicle.
Organizers ask visitors to treat the music festival like any other indoor music venue when packing items to carry.
