Almost 6 years ago, a Minnesota girl was in need of a bone marrow transplant. After searching worldwide, a call came from Austin with a match.
Six-year-old Zulieka Rojas White was born with a metabolism disorder. Her best chance to live would be a bone marrow transplant, but doctors said finding the right match was a one in a million chance.
Her donor match was found in Austin. The donor and the girl met each other for the first time Wednesday.
Most donors and recipients do not get the chance to meet and thank each other personally.

Dedurie Kirk's bone marrow matched Zulieka's and the two celebrated life.
Doctors were able to find Kirk because she was listed on the national Blood and Tissue registry.
Kirk said she never hesitated to be a donor and that it was a miracle the doctors found a match, since the chances were one in a million. "The second miracle is that it was successful. I'm not the special person. The special people are the teams who put this together and made it happen," Kirk said.
Kirk said she's thankful she was able to give a lifesaving gift, while Zulieka and her family celebrate a second chance and their future together.
