By: News 8 Austin Staff

If you work in Downtown Austin, or you were in the area Tuesday morning, you may have noticed a distinct smell and traffic delays.

Austin fire crews were out around 4 a.m. Tuesday, putting out a two-alarm fire at the abandoned Travis House.

It happened around 4 a.m. near 17th Street and Guadalupe Street. Firefighters said the fire was mainly in the stairwell, but it burned all three floors.

One firefighter did suffer minor injuries.

Guadalupe Street was closed for a few hours, but reopened later in the day after crews contained the fire.

The incident remains under investigation.
