MEXICO CITY -- The U.S. ambassador to Mexico and Mexico's richest woman capped their wedding festivities with a Texas-style barbecue.
Texan Tony Garza married to Grupo Modelo brewing heiress Maria Asuncion Aramburuzabala in a February Roman Catholic ceremony.
Saturday's civil ceremony and weekend festivities were off limits to the media. But an account released by the U.S. Embassy last night described golf, hiking, the bride's long orange dress, a “special martini bar'' and a wedding reception that lasted until dawn.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, U.S. first lady Laura Bush and Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim Helu were among about 400 guests.
Aramburuzabala is vice chairwoman of Grupo Modelo, maker of Corona and Negra Modelo beers. Forbes magazine ranks her 366th among the world's billionaires with an estimate fortune of $1.8 billion.
This is her second marriage and Garza's first.
Garza's a former Cameron County judge and Texas Railroad Commissioner and a second-generation American whose four grandparents were from Mexico. President Bush appointed him ambassador to Mexico in 2002.
