Mexican-American fashion designer David Rodriguez took the style of Amelia Earhart and the long and fluid silhouette of Mona Von Bismark and combined them into his style.
"They were very strong women but very different. You will see Amelia Earhart in the pin stripes and you can see Mona Von Bismark in the gowns," Rodriguez said.
Inspired in the 1930s, fur and neutral tones make up these designs, accentuated with buckles, a laser cut and gathering. His love of the design comes from his Mexican roots and his work has won lots of praise.
"Cutting edge. I love it. He is ahead of his time. And I love it," Paul Anthony of Full Force said.
"One word: Magnificent. David Rodriguez is ahead of his time. Every collection he just outdoes himself one after the other. This was just unbelievable," stylist Felix Mercado said.
Designer Esteban Cortazar is young in age but big in talent.
The 21-year-old Colombian is probably the youngest designer on the runways of Bryant Park. This season, Cortazar said, he had a very particular woman in mind.
"Sexy, but not in your face sexy. It is not what I have done in the past -- hot girl. This is more elegant. The part that is sexy is the Bohemian part," Cortazar said.
They are romantic. The colors, in his words, are organic. The fabrics are a combination of light and airy with thicker tweeds.
"I thought the colors really complimented each other. The greens and oranges the browns and beiges. He didn't get too loud this year," actor-singer Maya said.
His inspiration, Cortazar said, was abandoned parks and places in Paris.
