Texas State junior forward Cameron Johnson is a big part of
the Bobcats game plan and he's putting up career best numbers.
"When you guard him with single coverage he's going to score."
Johnson is the Bobcats leading scorer, and as a three year
letterman he's a veteran leader of the program.
Cameron says "My teammates have voted me captain this year it's something that I actually had a goal set when I came to Texas State and so I think I'm stepping into that role pretty well."
Johnson fills many roles maximizing his potential as a
student athlete. He majors in business management, while participating in a variety of activities including Student Government, Black Men United and the Foundations of Excellence Committee.
"All of the organizations that I'm a part of teach me leadership
type skills and I apply that on the basketball court and off the
basketball court," Johnson says.
Bobcats head coach Doug Davalos adds, "He's on of the most mature young men that I've coached in terms of looking for his life beyond basketball. I'm just glad that he's also looking at his life with basketball right now as well."
His balance of talent puts him in position to lead the Bobcats
into Southland Conference tournament play and pursue even
bigger goals.
"I think everything will start to develop towards the end of this
season towards next season," Johnson says, "but if I get a chance to play professionally that's definitely something that I want to do."
