When high school football season began in Central Texas, few people expected Anderson High School to be a contender.
However, the Trojans are off to a perfect three-and-zero start, thanks in large part to their quarterback.
With each snap of the season, the Anderson Trojans have become the surprise team of Central Texas.
Anderson has started the year three-and-zero after winning just two games last year.
"Everyone feels real good this year, so far. Whenever you're three-and-zero, you feel real good," Trojans quarterback, Sam Wehmeyer, said.
The Trojans success begins under center with junior quarterback Sam Wehmeyer.

"Sam's been huge. I think in the last two games he has experienced a comfort level in our offense and what’s expected of him in the pass game and the run game," Trojans head coach, Mark Reiland, said.
Wehmeyer is a true dual threat. In a win over Georgetown, he ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 172 yards and another score.
"Being able to scramble and pass and being able to scramble and run. It helps. I've always been able to pass. It just came natural over the years. I've worked on running," Wehmeyer said.
Playing on varsity a year ago as a sophomore, Wehmeyer was hesitant to run. Now, with a year under his belt, he's running wild.
"I think the word is confidence. He's confident that he can get the thing north-south. If he does take a big hit, he's going to be able to bounce up from it,” Reiland said.
At Wehmeyer's size, that's a legitimate concern. He's just five-foot 11 inches tall, a big reason why he models himself after another short former Central Texas high school star.
"Todd Reesing. I just remember being like 'That guy is really good.' I've been watching all the Kansas games as much as I can. I saw him play maybe once or twice in high school, but I've definitely been following him ever since he was a freshman at Kansas," Wehmeyer said.
Reesing led his team to a perfect record and district championship in high school, a feat Wehmeyer would love to match.
The Trojans had last week off. This Friday, they open district play with a game against Akins.
