VATICAN CITY – It looks like Pope John Paul has regained some of his strength, following the exhausting schedule related to his 25th anniversary celebrations two weeks ago.
At his general audience at the Vatican on Wednesday, the ailing pope said prayer can halt war and terrorism.
Aides read several of his greetings. The pope skipped some remarks, but read others, telling worshipers that praying is a conscious expression of faith in the face of war, violence and tension.
Afterward, he lingered for more than 30 minutes to greet pilgrims.
