Rare condition sets 8-year-old apart
In almost every way Alondra is like any little girl. She likes Lizzie McGuire and Lilo and Stitch.
"She likes to color, play dolls with her Barbie’s, play school, go outside and run and play," foster father Keith Brown said.
But an extremely rare medical condition sets Alondra apart. She has congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis, or CIPA. This means she can't feel pain, nor can her body regulate heat.
"You know how we learn from hitting things and we don't do it again? She doesn't. She'll just do it over and over," Brown said.

Alondra's body doesn't sweat, so she has to be careful in the heat. But she still loves the outdoors.
"She loves people. She loves to do things. She just needs to be watched. That's about all. But most kids do," Brown said.
Alondra was born with CIPA, so her to, it's just part of life. The thing she shouldn't have to live with is not having a family.
Despite living with such a rare condition, Alondra is always willing to embrace new and different things. She just needs a forever family that will do the same.
