Although the name may not suggest a killer workout, Hottie Pilates is just that.
Walk into the studio on Bee Caves Road and you're greeted by several machines, each with a painful purpose. Owner Janice Nichols is a Dallas police officer-turned-pilates instructor.
"I've always been into fitness even when I was an investigator for Dallas," Nichols said. "So it's a little different, a different kind of drama, but it certainly is fun."
She developed the Hottie Pilates workout, eventually opening her own studio.

"I worked with a lot of athletes in the last 20 years and I wanted to pull athletic movements into the pilates technique," Nichols said. "So it's taken me all these years to come up with a very systematic, progressive type workout."
Hottie Pilates is a fast-paced workout that targets every part of your body.
"We have about 500 different movements from the floor to the piece of equipment," Nichols said.
It's the perfect complement to running, biking or any other activity.
"We have people here who come once a week, a cross training type program," Nichols noted. "And there are girls and men who come here every day."
