If the past is any indication, the new album from Bob Schneider “Lovely Creatures” could be the biggest Austin record of 2009.
One of Schneider’s biggest hits “40 Dogs” has been on the radio for just about a year now.
Schneider said he knew the first few times he played it live it was getting a good reaction. He said now, people really get loud when they hear him perform it.
“When I first started playing it live people reacted to it and seemed to really enjoy the song. I think that now it’s been played on the radio people really get into it because, they always get excited when they’ve heard something that they’re familiar with,” Schneider said.

His new album also features two songs he has performed with The Scabs for a while now. He’ll also be performing those songs at ACL with the band.
Schneider wrote the songs a couple of years ago, and has wanted to add them to one of his albums but they never quite fit.
“They didn’t work on the last studio record I put out so, they seemed to work on this record,” he said.
Schneider and his producer Dwight Baker wanted to make a different album from the rest he’s put out. They decided to make it classy and beautiful. The Schneider-Baker team even modeled it after a movie star that embodied those qualities.
“We had in mind that it was going to be the George Clooney record. He’s pretty classy and kind of hot,” Schneider said.
The album is not out yet, it comes out September 29.
